Behaviour for Learning
At Great Ouse Primary Academy we respect and value all children and are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all our pupils so they can learn, in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. We believe every pupil should be able to participate in all academy activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm.
This is the responsibility of every adult employed by, or invited to deliver services at Great Ouse Primary Academy. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard all who access the academy and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect and bullying.
At Great Ouse Primary Academy, our aim is to promote behaviour that allows children to achieve their potential within a positive environment which sets high standards in behaviour and tolerance. We believe that good behaviour needs to be carefully developed, nurtured and established. Most importantly, all individuals have a right to be happy and safe in school. We believe in working together for excellence for all.
We like to reward children for all they do in school, whether that be a fantastic piece of work, representing the school or displaying our 6 C's to name but a few. Children will earn Carrot Rewards which they can then convert and spend in the school shop.
Other rewards available to children include; Star of The Week, Star Writer, a Good News Postcard home or a Headteacher's sticker for outstanding work or achievement, The weekly Star Writers form each year group can be found framed in at the office.
The shop is open once a week and a rota is in place for each year group to collect their purchases.
We follow a behaviour management strategy called 1-2-3 Magic. In essence the strategy works by counting 1, 2 and 3 - indicating a warning has been given to the child.
'That's a 1' - wait for child to change behaviour;
If no change
'That's a 2' - wait for child to change behaviour;
If no change
'That's a 3' - take 5
Send child to allocated time out place for 5 minutes (time depends on age) or other relevant sanction such as missing a portion of break time/Golden Time
