Tadpoles - Pre-School

Meg
Mrs Stringer         Mr Hawking   Mrs Hawking Mrs Cairns

Welcome to the Pre-School. We provide full-time or part-time places for children aged 3-4 years old introducing them to enjoyable learning. We have four members of staff who are all at least Level 3 Childcare Practitioners and are committed to giving your child the best experience possible in preparing them for starting the main school in YR. We believe that the children learn through their play and we offer as many different experiences to support their learning. Our aim is for the children to feel happy, safe and secure in the Pre-School environment. This enables the children to be in the correct mind-set and be able to learn many different skills. It is very important to teach the children to be independent, to be able to communicate and be aware of other’s needs. Our learning is child initiated and we embrace the children’s ideas and thoughts. We also provide various different activities to suit the children’s individual needs that incorporate all the areas of learning. These are:

Personal and Social development

Physical Development

Communication and Language

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

We love to have fun and the children are at the centre of all we do. Their happiness and development is at the heart of our provision. Visits to our Pre-School are welcome at any time, please contact the School Office to arrange – 01234 907890 admin@greatouse.beds.sch.uk

A warm welcome from the Reception team. We work hard to provide a positive learning environment where children learn, play and develop together, supported by knowledgeable adults. We work in partnership with parents with the highest expectations towards achieving the Early Years Goals. We plan weekly following the needs and interests of the children and always aim to inspire them to learn more! Our aim is for children to become independent learners who are excited to discover and investigate the world around them.

A big warm welcome from Mr Payne and Mrs Dell. A very important year as the children this year will take their SATs assessments, we were very pleased with the results from last year and are confident that we can achieve great things again this year. As well as focussing on our SATs assessments we will also be learning lots of new interesting things as part of our Creative Curriculum in Topic.

We shall be blasting off to space and have some exciting visits planned, looking at celebrations around the world, investigating all things chocolate as well as venturing into the African plains. We shall be walking the plank as pirates and building our very own castles. A really interesting engaging set of topics, I'm sure you'll agree.

We believe that the school absolutely belongs to our community of children, staff, parents and carers. We urge you to actively support and be involved in the school. It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be part of something special.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”
